Simply Stripes the Signmakers was started in 1989 with our main core business being ‘go faster’ custom stripes and vehicle lettering. The vehicle lettering side of the business quickly took off as this was the age when setting up your own business was encouraged and commonplace. People wanted to advertise their business on their vehicles.

Already having around 6 years signmaking and custom striping experience before starting Simply Stripes, we found ourselves gradually moving more and more into signs and visual displays. The custom striping part of the business started to die back, and the signmaking side continued to grow.

Due to a lot of hard work and a little luck we managed to win some prestigious accounts including Nissan Motor Manufacture in Washington. The relationships developed quickly, our reputation grew and before long we were manufacturing for large companies on a regular basis.

In the late 90's after taking on more staff it became evident that we needed more space to operate efficiently, and could no longer function from the small unit we were in. It was time for a move.

After some careful consideration, we decided upon Enterprise City in Spennymoor which gave us ample manufacturing space and a prime 'under-cover' facility to cope with the even largest vehicle.
